Seattle Convention Center Summit Grand Opening

The Seattle Convention Center Summit building at night

I had the honor of being the official photographer for the grand opening of the Seattle Convention Center’s new building, Summit. It is truly a spectacular building that has 580,000 square feet of event space. There were three days of events that I covered. The first was the press event and ribbon cutting featuring the state and local politicians that helped to make it happen. It was followed by a hospitality event for all of the industry professionals. The following day had the dedication of the ballroom in honor of the long time president of the board that started working on the convention center in 1982. And finally, on the third day was the public open house with around 5,000 people in attendance. The place is so large, though, that it seemed empty with that many people!
