Seattle Courthouse Wedding | Lauren & Jonathan

I met Lauren and Jonathan at the Seattle Municipal Court before walking around the downtown Seattle area. We found a new, cool rooftop parking garage for a few images as well as some of my favortie places like the main branch of the Seattle Public Library and the Freeway Park area. Then we went over to City Hall for the wedding!

10 Seattle Elopements

2020 was a strange year to be a wedding photographer. It started out with all of these plans for a couple of dozen big weddings. Some of those plans changed, others got postponed, and some people went for an elopement. The term for elopement also kind of morphed into "micro wedding" for some people that wanted an awesome event with fewer people.

Seabrook Micro Wedding | Kathy & Nick

Kathy and Nick planned to have a beautiful big wedding this summer. That didn’t work out with the pandemic and the restrictions on receptions. So they postponed their big party until next year and decided to do a micro wedding on the Washington coast. They chose the adorable little planned village of Seabrook in the Pacific, Washington area. We had planned on some images of the two of them taking off their shoes and playing in the water at sunset for some spectacular images. Then the smoke rolled in from Oregon and California for the weekend of their wedding. They had a fantastic attitude about it. They still got married, and they still had a great time with their friends. Your wedding either goes perfectly, or you have a great story to tell for the rest of your life!

Seattle Micro Wedding at Kerry Park | Meeran & Jaewoo

Meeran and Jaewoo are super cool, super nice people. They had big plans for their wedding. What we did was a beautiful micro wedding at Kerry Park with some portraits in Fremont and Ballard before the ceremony. Kerry Park is a fantastic place to get a great view of Seattle. It is totally cool to get married there without a reservation as long as you don’t make people move or set up chairs and equipment. Anyway, congratulations to Meeran and Jaewoo!

Woodmark Hotel Micro Wedding | Matt & Nilou

Matt and Nilou are a cool couple. They were fun to hang out with and take photographs of. They had their micro wedding at the beautiful Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland. The Woodmark has a permanent tent that lets them have great ventilation and space for a wedding during the pandemic while also giving the feel of a more traditional wedding. They also have wonderful grounds and docks at Carillon Point for some great images. After the ceremony, we even got to go for a ride in their boat around Lake Washington. Very cool.

Micro Wedding at the Seattle Municipal Courthouse | Alexa & Kevin

I met Alexa and Kevin in West Seattle for some photographs with an awesome view of downtown. They love their dogs, so we included their dogs in a lot of the images as well as going to one of their favorite parks to hang with the pups. As I was talking to them about how they were from the midwest and moved to Seattle for their jobs, I was fully expecting them to be in the tech field like so many in the area are. They are in a way, but they build rockets for Blue Origins. It just sounds cool.

Willows Lodge Wedding | Heather & Kevin

Heather and Kevin had a wonderful, though slightly rainy, wedding day at Willows Lodge in the wine country of Woodinville, Washington. It was my first wedding in the era of the pandemic. It was a very heartfelt event that had far more guests via Zoom than were in physical attendance. I believe there were 12 family members at the wedding. Willows Lodge made it a great day despite the modern challenges. Congratulations to Heather & Kevin!

Elopement in Seattle | Lisa & Chris

I recently had the opportunity to photograph Lisa and Chris’ elopement. It was the first wedding that I’ve photographed after the lockdown for the coronavirus and Covid-19. It was a joy to be back photographing a wedding! Lisa and Chris are also fantastic people to hang out with, so they made it especially fun for me to be back doing what I love. Lisa and Chris had originally planned on having an elopement at the Seattle Municipal Court with a dozen guests. They ended up getting married in their backyard with one of my favorite officiants, Annemarie Juhlian, performing the ceremony. Before their ceremony, we went to Richmond Beach Saltwater Park for some portraits.

Seattle Courthouse Wedding | Christopher & Andrew

Christopher and Andrew were married on one of the rainiest days I can remember photographing a wedding. So we used the rain to create some incredibly cool images. I also got to sign their marriage license as a witness, which I always think is kind of cool. Check it out!

Seattle Courthouse Wedding Photography | Ivy & Nicolas

Ivy and Nicolas have a story that seems to come out of a movie. They started dating in 8th grade. They continued to date through high school. Then they went to college together and dated that whole time. Then they came to Seattle for their destination wedding at the Seattle Municipal Court!

We started at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel where they were staying while they were in town. We walked slowly to the Seattle courthouse with stops at the library and a couple other places along the way. Then we hit the rooftop deck for some portraits before the ceremony. Once they were married we went to their reception dinner at Canlis.

Very cool couple with awesome friends and family!
