Welcome!

cory-mug-color-smile I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Seattle. I create emotional photostories.

I love photography. I love all the technical aspects of f-stops, shutter speeds, megapixels, photoshop, and lighting. I love the art of photography in the composition, angles, bokeh, point of view, and the way the technical changes the art. More than even the art, I love the expressions and emotions that people portray in their face, body language, and hand positions. Along the way, I’ve met a lot of great people, gotten to photograph some pretty cool things, and had a lot of fun. I am very happy to have chosen a career in photography.

I also have an amazing wife, Leslie, and three fantastic children. Life is good.

Come eat this Thursday at the Herbfarm with nationally recognized chefs and sommelier. Proceeds benefit Share Our Strength, a nonprofit dedicated to feeding starving children in the U.S. Click here for more information. I’ll be shooting, not eating, but it would be fun to see someone I knew!

This is a 16×12 album of family portraits. It has a gorgeous plexiglass cover over a metallic print that I designed to be a collage to show off a grouping of the photographs like a frame would.

Here are several albums that I have currently waiting for pickup. From the left is a 8×12 vertical leather album, the 16×12 horizontal family album in the back, an 8×12 vertical engagement portraits with a dustjacket cover, and a 13×9.5 wedding album with another plexi cover and 80 sides!

Here is a closer view of the leather cover.

Looking pretty good for download. I would like a faster upload, but can’t complain too loudly!

Seattle Public Library

Filed under Seattle, Seattle Library • Written by Cory @ 9:00 am

The Seattle Public Library is on of the most unique buildings ever made and I wanted to create some cool photos of it. So, I called up Canon and had them send me a rather unusual lens. It is a 24 Tilt-Shift lens. It can control the plane of focus and perspective control. Basically, it has a couple extra knobs on the lens that can make things more in perspective (the top of the building doesn’t go to a point), or you cam make things look kind of wierd. I got it to play with fixing the perspective in architecture, but I ended up using it to make things look different, and what I think is kind of cool and artistic.

Downtown Seattle
This one was from the top of the parking garage where we parked. It was close to Old Navy and Gap where my wife wanted to shop! You can see the way the plane of focus is not quite square to the film plane making the top go way out of focus faster than it normally would with a conventional lens.

I’m not sure why these people had their garbage locked behind a chain link fence, but I like the image of the lock. Notice how the bottom left is in focus, but the top left is out of focus even though it is the same distance away from me. I’ll shut up with my lens geekiness now!
