Seattle Wedding Photographer - Cory Parris

About Cory Parris Photography

I am a wedding and portrait photographer in Seattle. I create emotional photostories. I love photography. I love all the technical aspects of f-stops, shutter speeds, megapixels, photoshop, and lighting. I love the art of photography in the composition, angles, bokeh, point of view, and the way the technical changes the art. More than even the art, I love the expressions and emotions that people portray in their face, body language, and hand positions. Along the way, I have met a lot of great people, gotten to photograph some pretty cool things, and had a lot of fun. I am very happy to have chosen a career in photography. I also have an amazing wife, Leslie, and three fantastic children. Life is good. Have any questions? Call me - 425.637.8852

ISPWP

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

So I joined a kind of cool organization. The International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP) is a little different than other online advertising opportunities because they actually check you out to make sure that you can take a photograph before they take your money! Here are their qualifications:
* At least 2 years in business
* At least 40 weddings as the principal photographer (not as secondary/backup)
* Sponsorship by an existing ISPWP member OR two email references from recent clients and two email references from fellow professional photographers
* Website review
* Agreement to operate your business in accordance with the Code of Conduct
* No unresolved complaints with the Better Business Bureau or other similar consumer protection organization

ISPWP

You can also check out my info page. Notice that I also put myself in the Oregon, California, Hawaii and Mexico photographers sections, so keep that in mind if you know anyone getting married someplace cool!

I love the getting ready area at Newcastle. Huge windows and a nice area.

I love the emotion in their meeting images, so I included a few.

Nothing like having your sister guide you down the aisle with a big handful of coat! This little guy didn’t seem to mind.

I loved that they set up a private table for the couple to spend a few minutes together after the ceremony.

I loved the smile on one of the “grooms-maids” face in this one as she gave Jason a hug.

Jessica & Dave – Engagement Portraits at Gasworks!

Beautiful night at Gasworks park by Seattle wedding and portrait photographer Cory Parris
It was a beautiful evening at Gasworks Park where I met Jessica and Dave last night.

Right after Jessica told me she wasn’t much of a photo person (as in doesn’t like to be in photos), she threw her head back like this without any prompting. Yeah. She’s horrible for photos. :)

This may be my favorite photo of the day. Very cool light and (in my humble opinion) a really nice piece of wall art that also features Jessica and Dave.

Wedding: First Covenant Church
Reception: The Yacht Club at Lake Union (Tyee Yacht Club)
Catering: Ravishing Radish

stained glass window with green wedding shoes at First Covenant Church in Seattle
I always know that the bride is going to be a lot of fun if she chooses colored shoes. Check out these green beauties in front of the stained glass window at First Covenant Church in downtown Seattle.

wedding bracelet
This wedding bracelet has been involved in something like 37 family wedding since the early 1900′s in Jason’s family. The list is all the names of the brides. Very cool.

Another beautiful view of the church.

bride and groom in seattle riding in the back of a convertible
There are some incredible moments in life. Does it get any better than riding in the back of a classic convertible on a beautiful day right after you get married?

bride and groom in post alley underneath pike place market in seattle
Post Alley is one of those places photographers love. You can create sunny, bright and colorful images, moody and dark images, or both with a trashy, urban chic flair.

How can you not love bright green shoes with the wedding dress?

I love how the little boy is staring at Lindsey and Jason as they get their photos taken. It’s kind of funny how many other people are looking at them, too!

Groom in a diner
I liked this portrait of Jason with the stranger out of focus in the background.

Here’s the Mustang. I offered to trade for my Kia, but they weren’t having any of it! :)

Groom and Mom high-five
As they come into the the Yacht Club at Lake Union (not to be confused with the Tyee Yacht Club, which is exactly the same place), Jason gets a high-five from his mom.

Lindsey and Jason made things harder on the guests. If you wanted to have them kiss, you had to do more than just hit your glass with a fork. You had to come up and sing a song into the microphone with the word “Love” in the song. So…the groomsmen sang the Barney song (I love you, you love me, we’re a happy family…). Of course, they didn’t know the whole song, so Lindsey was waiting for the rest. The parents in the crowd helped them out and it was a first for me – a group singing of the Barney song at a wedding!

Bride and groom and frozen cheesecake.
Lindsey’s dad made individual cheesecakes for everyone (I had the chocolate raspberry) and a slightly larger one for Lindsey and Jason to cut. Unfortunately, it needed a little more time to thaw, so they had to chip off pieces to feed to each other.
