Imperia Lake Union Wedding | Ashley & Alex

Ashley and Alex are a fantastic, warm, and caring couple that met at their gym. It was a lot of fun to photograph the two of them and their friends and family at their Imperia Lake Union wedding. They had a set designer create a very cool backdrop on the stage for their wedding. I don’t see that a lot at Imperia because it has so much style that it doesn’t need a lot added to it. However, the designer did a great job of enhancing the space and making it unique to Ashley and Alex while retaining the art deco charm that the venue always has. It is one of my favorite wedding venues to photograph in Seattle.

Rattlesnake Lake Engagement Portraits | Laura & Bret

I met Laura and Bret at Rattlesnake Lake for their engagement portraits. I hadn’t seen the lake with such a low water level before which exposed lots of old tree stumps. It was an odd, cool look that made for some very cool photographs, but not what I was expecting. I can’t wait for Laura and Bret’s wedding in a few months!

Seattle Small Business Marketing Photography

One of my favorite things to do is to create a set of images for a small business. There is usually a lot of creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration involved to create some great marketing photographs for the company. For this set of images for Peter of The Seattle Personal Trainer, we had some of his clients come into the gym on Queen Anne and created images of him coaching and helping them. It was a fun shoot!

Seattle Senior Portraits at UW | Olivia

Senior portraits are fun to photograph. I help the kids and parents plan a session where they can both be comfortable and get something really fun and cool to share with their friends and family. I love how senior portraits are also like time capsules that show a real personality for a point in time.

For Olivia, we met at the UW campus in Seattle. She loves the Suzzallo Library and it looks like a set from Harry Potter.

PNW Mini Adventure Elopement | Brooke & Austin at Elope 253 and Gold Creek Pond

Brooke and Austin combined a couple of very cool venues for their elopement. They were married at Elope 253 in downtown Tacoma, which is a new venue for me. It was a very cool space designed specifically for elopements with a mid-century design aesthetic that I loved. After the heartfelt ceremony, we did some portraits outside and some family portraits. Then, we drove over to Gold Creek Pond for a celebration and some very cool outdoor portraits. I love Gold Creek Pond. It is a beautiful space that is easy to walk around to give you the feel of a real PNW adventure elopement without the hike. It is a little mini-adventure elopement! Brooke and Austin were a lot of fun to talk to and it was an honor to be part of their wedding day.

Mad Art Studio Seattle Wedding | Hayley & Adam

Hayley and Adam were married on a perfectly Seattle rainy day in the spring. They and all of their friends got ready in a space above their wedding venue, Mad Art Studio.

Mad Art Studio is located in the South Lake Union neighborhood just a few blocks from the MOHAI and the Center for Wooden Boats. We went down to Kobe Terrace Park in the International District for their first look and some portraits. Kobe Terrace is filled with cherry trees and was absolutely beautiful for their first look with all of the blossoms.

Then, we went to Kerry Park to get views of the Space Needle and Seattle for more portraits and their wedding party images. After that, we went back to Mad Art Studio for the wedding and reception. Very cool couple and a fun day!

Seattle Business Headshots and Portraits

Business portraits and headshots make up a huge part of my business. A lot of times places will want this more casual, modern style of business portrait, but will be asking for headshots because that is the term they know. In photographer’s circles this isn’t really considered a headshot because there is much more to it than just the head and shoulders, but how would a client know to call it something different? I have heard these call cinematic style or bokeh style, but whatever it is, I have been doing it for my clients for years. I will go to a business office and create really nice portraits of a bunch of people all in one day. Here is a set I did for a biotech firm in Seattle. All of these images were either taken in the lobby of their building or within a few blocks of walking. For this shoot, I created portraits of around 35 of their employees in one day.

Smith Tower Wedding | Beka & Joe

I met Beka and Joe at the Smith Tower in Seattle before their wedding. I love Smith Tower and have used in the background of so many of my wedding and elopement images. For this event, the wedding was inside the tower, which I hadn’t been inside for year. I am very glad that camera gear has improved so much in the time between and now has enough dynamic range to allow there to be detail in both the couple and the much brighter background.

Seattle Courthouse Wedding | Hao & Bonan

I met Hao and Bonan on a cold February day at the Municipal Court of Seattle. We walked around City Hall and the Seattle Public Library before we went back to the courthouse for the wedding ceremony. The ceremony was indoors in the Judicial Library. Then, we went upstairs for a few portraits on the very cold rooftop deck.

Seattle Court Elopement | Anastasiya & Purvang

Anastasiya and Purvang are a fun and funny couple that are always ready with a joke. They also take their heritages seriously and were married in the traditional marriage outfits of their native Ukraine and India. That made for some very fun and colorful images. We walked from the Seattle Municipal Court into downtown Seattle and back for portraits before returning to the courthouse for their wedding ceremony.
