John and AJ’s Seattle Elopement at the Municipal Court

John & AJ before their wedding at Pioneer Beach Park.

When John and AJ planned their Seattle elopement, they didn’t expect the city itself to become such a big part of the day.

The grooms wore matching blue suits and brown shoes. As we started walking through downtown before the ceremony, something unexpected happened. Total strangers kept congratulating them. From people on the sidewalks to drivers waving as they passed, the spontaneous support from random Seattleites ended up being one of the most memorable parts of their afternoon.

A Walk Through the City

Our route for portraits took us from the courthouse down through the historic brick streets of Pioneer Square and over to Pioneer Beach Park. From there, we headed to the ferry terminal building before looping back toward the Seattle Municipal Court. Walking the city streets gave us a chance to take things slow and just capture the day as it happened.

The Ceremony and Capitol Hill

They were married on the rooftop deck at the Seattle Municipal Court, which offers an incredible view of the skyline. It’s a simple, quiet spot for an intimate ceremony right in the middle of downtown.

After the vows, everyone headed up to Capitol Hill for a reception at Jeffrey's. We wrapped up the day by wandering around the neighborhood for a few final portraits, capturing a bit of the energy of Cap Hill to finish out the story.

Congratulations, John and AJ. It was an honor to document this day for you.
