Seattle isn't short on incredible locations for senior portraits, but finding a single spot that offers the sheer variety of Discovery Park is rare. Within a single park, you get forest, open fields, dramatic bluffs, a historic lighthouse, and a natural saltwater beach. For Bella's senior session, that diversity allowed us to capture a wide range of distinct looks all in one morning.
Forest Trails and Open Fields
We started along the park’s shaded forest trails, where the filtered canopy provided soft, clean light for quiet early portraits. Stepping out of the trees, the tall-grass fields offered a completely different atmosphere—bright, expansive, and natural—giving Bella space to relax and move for more casual, candid shots.
The Bluffs, Lighthouse, and Puget Sound
From the fields, we headed up to the bluffs for sweeping views looking out across Puget Sound toward the Olympic Mountains. It’s one of the most iconic Pacific Northwest backdrops in the city. We finished down at the shoreline near the West Point Lighthouse, taking advantage of the natural driftwood beach and low evening light right by the water.
Variety Without the Rush
Having forest, meadow, bluff, and beach all within walking distance means a senior session feels complete and varied without spending half the afternoon driving between locations. It keeps the energy easy and relaxed, letting the focus stay right where it belongs: on capturing authentic portraits to mark this milestone.
