Lindsay and Jake are both structural engineers working on very cool projects. They are also cool people that I enjoyed photographing their engagement portraits at Myrtle Edwards Park in Seattle!Read More
I met Natalie and David at Kerry Park in Seattle for a rainy day engagement portrait session. It was great fun. Most of the time, people don't actually want to have their portraits in the rain. It was fun! Also, I think Natalie have one of the first meeting locations ever. They met playing Quidditch. Fantastic!
Ellen and Eric started their wedding day at Christ Our Hope Catholic Church in Seattle. It is a relatively new church just a couple of blocks from Pike Place Market. Then we went to the Olympic Sculpture Park and Myrtle Edwards Park on the Seattle waterfront. It was a day of beautiful, subtle light with a layer of clouds.
Finally, we went to the Lake Union Cafe for the reception. A beautiful and delicious place to end the night!

Jenny and Jesse had a beautiful day for a wedding at the Seattle Aquarium. They are a very funny couple with hilarious friends and family. It was a blast!
Charlie and Gerrit had a beautiful wedding day at the Woodland Park Rose Garden. The sun was shining and the the flowers were beautiful. After the small, private ceremony at the Rose Garden, we went to Aqua on the Seattle waterfront for the wedding reception. It is an amazing place with views of the city and the water. Very cool.
The slideshow is first with individual images after!
I have so many great images to share from Nicole and Colin's wedding. Here is one just after they saw each other for the first time at the Olympic Sculpture Park.
Joy and Mike are huge Seattle Seahawks fans. Also, we won the Superbowl this year with style. With that in mind we started the engagement portrait session at Century Link Field, the home of the Seattle Seahawks, Superbowl winners. Yes, those of us from Seattle have been starved for a major championship, so I am repeating "Seattle Seahawks, Superbowl Champions" just a few more times so that everyone gets the point. Beyond the fact that Joy and Mike enjoy watching the Seahawks win, they are a very fun couple that laugh a lot together. After a few images at Century Link Field, we walked around Pioneer Square and Occidental Park. Then we went down to Myrtle Edwards Park and the Olympic Sculpture Park for a nightcap of Sunset portraits.
Joy and Mike's engagement portrait at Century Link Field. I played a little with an HDR effect.
I loved the reflection off of the new building in the north parking lot.
Playing with light and shadow as they walked down the street.
Portrait in Occidental Park.
A solo portrait of Mike in Occidental Park with the faded Ranier Beer sign.
I really liked this image of Joy and Mike as they walked down first avenue. I was playing with light, shadow and lens flare.
Life is good when you have the one you love in your arms!
Sunset engagement portrait with a little added pop of flash to light up our joyful couple.
Playing with the flash and city lights.
For this last image, I backlit them with the flash.
I met Joy and Mike in downtown Seattle for some engagement portraits. As part of the session, we did some portraits at night at the Olympic Sculpture Park. Here is one that I liked with the lights of the city of Seattle in the background.
Canon 5D Mark III with a 85mm lens at 1.8. ISO 640 and 1/200 shutter speed. I also used a Yongnuo ST-E3-RT to fire a Canon 600EX-RT in a softbox.
Denh and Jesse chose a beautiful day for their Washington Park Arboretum wedding. They had a great group of people for their wedding party that made the entire day a blast to photograph!
I love hands. They are incredibly expressive. They show our nerves and excitement.
I love the look on Jesse's face as he sees Denh for the first time in her wedding dress. Very cool!
Hard to tell, but off-camera flash, lightstand and umbrella were used to create this image. When the available light isn't doing what I want, I cheat. :)
Wedding ceremony at the Graham Visitor Center at the Washington Park Arboretum.
The little ringbearer with his truck and mohawk was incredibly cute.
I love this image. The shallow depth of field and the lighting make it for me.
Bobble-head wedding cake topper. Very cool!
Hugs and laughs for the bride and groom.
The bouquet toss.

Sara and Daniel were married five years ago. I was very honored to photograph their wedding. I was even more honored to be photographing their fifth anniversary! It is so cool to be their photographer again! If you want to see a few images from their wedding you can find them here.
Sara and Daniel and their little dog, too! :)
One of Sara and Daniel’s portraits at their wedding 5 years ago was in front of a No Trespassing sign!
I met Katie and Patrick at the Olympic Sculpture Park for some engagement portraits. We had planned a sunset session. The weather was beautiful all day, but clouds came in just in time to ruin our chances for the amazing color. We rolled with it and took some photos at night. Check out the photos and let me know what you think!
I met Tori and her mom down at the Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle for her senior portraits. Check them out!
I met Kayla and her mom at the Olympic Sculpture Park for her senior portraits. I had a great time with them!
Emily and Jeff are a great couple. They have a great energy about them and they laugh all the time. It made for a great time taking their portraits around the Olympic Sculpture Park.
I love how Emily is laughing in this image. Jeff definitely entertains her!
I met Anna and her mom, Melissa, down at the Olympic Sculpture Park for her senior portraits. One of the great things about photography is getting to know people. I met Steve Gehrig about four years ago when he officiated Jurgen & Kendra's wedding. Then I photographed Steve's daugther, Christy when she married Brian. Then I photographed Steve and Melissa's wedding. Anna is Melissa's daughter. See how that works. I also photographed Christy's best friend, Jayme when she married Matt this last summer. Jayme and Christy also know Gwynna and Eric, who know Kate and Jon, as well as Karen and her husband Joe, all of whom were married this year. Cool!
And now for the photos and the end of my written drivel!

Did I mention I like the Olympic Sculpture Park? Actually, I didn't plan on shooting there twice in two weeks, but that's the way it happened. Joyce and Jason were great to work with and their wedding in July should be a blast. I'm hoping for something really cool with the fireworks in the background!
