Anti-Racist Communities: Bothell held a rally with speakers to stand up to hate and support Asian and Pacific Islanders at Bothell Landing. I was only able to attend for the first hour, but I was happy to go and create some images for them. There were also two people running for Bothell City Council there. Han Tran, who was one of the organizers and speakers, and Jenne Alderks who was there in support.

Read MoreYay for weddings! It has been a long time since I last had the opportunity to photograph a wedding. Michele and Mark were married at Willows Lodge with their immediate family in attendance. It was a gray and slightly sprinkly late winter day. They laughed a lot and the love amongst their family was obvious. Willows Lodge arranged for them to get married in the small library upstairs. After the ceremony, I did some portrait sessions for family members that wanted some couple portraits. Thanks for having me there!

Read MoreI went down to the headquarters of Abbott Construction in Seattle to create new executive portraits of their CEO, Troy. They have a great office to work with. Over the course of the hour I was with Troy, we did several different settings including some studio headshots to give him a variety of images to work with. We varied from fully buttoned up to business casual so that he would be able to use the images for different purposes. I was quite please with this set of images.

It is easy to say you want to change things, but it is hard to come up with a plan to make change and to do the work to make it happen. When the opportunity presented itself with the Black Lives Matter movement, instead of shrinking to the back, Josh stepped forward and led marches all over Snohomish and parts of King Counties.

I first set up a studio space and then we walked around the neighborhood! We even did a few with her in her Ethiopian dress. Cool stuff!

Read MoreI really love photographing construction projects. Building big things is amazing. With my son Kyler working on a minor in urban policy, I have also become a bit of an urban policy enthusiast. The latest project that I photographed for Graham is the Alexan Central Park in Redmond. I love what Redmond is doing with its urban planning. They have created urban areas around a central park area that allows people to walk, bike, or use public transit easily to get to work as well as easy access to great food options. It really is great planning. Here is the new apartment complex the Alexan Central Park. These are project completion photographs for Graham. I think of them as light architectural photography.
Read More2020 was a strange year to be a wedding photographer. It started out with all of these plans for a couple of dozen big weddings. Some of those plans changed, others got postponed, and some people went for an elopement. The term for elopement also kind of morphed into "micro wedding" for some people that wanted an awesome event with fewer people.

The first person that I get to tell you about is Ian Bauer. He is a lawyer in Seattle that fights for abused kids and elderly people. He is also a dad, a music lover, and a former soccer goalkeeper.

We did some portraits at Pier 62 with beautiful Seattle in the background, and then walked down the waterfront to find some neon lights for the background. It was great fun and I love the images.
Read MoreI met Averie at her sister’s wedding when she was 11. Since then, I’ve photographed her sister’s family a few times and her brother Chase when he was a senior. For Averie’s session, we met at the new waterfront park on Pier 62. I’ve been itching to shoot there with the entire city back behind Averie lit up the city lights.
